Bully Policy

Yuba County Career Preparatory Charter School (YCCPCS) is committed to providing a safe, secure and healthy environment which allows every student to learn in every classroom, in every subject, every day. Bullying is deliberate or intentional behavior using words or actions, intended to cause fear, intimidation or harm. This behavior may include but is not limited to physical and verbal assaults, nonverbal or emotional threats or intimidation, harassment, social exclusion and isolation, extortion, use of computer or telecommunications to send messages that are embarrassing, slanderous, threatening or intimidating (cyber -bullying). We believe our students and staff have the right to be free of bullying, threats, intimidation and harassment while on our campus or while participating in any YCCPCS-related activity. We also recognize that such behavior is not confined to schools. Whether the behavior takes place at home, in the community, or online, the harmful effects of bullying can be felt on our campuses. That is why YCCPCS is committed to partnering with our families, students, staff and community to provide an effective way to report bullying, threats, intimidation and harassment. In YCCPCS, we tell our community “if you see something, or know something, say something.” If you have witnessed bullying, are a victim of threats or bullying, are aware of or concerned about threats or bullying incidents that might take place, please report the information in one of the ways described below.

For emergencies, please call 911 immediately.

You may also file a report using our new anonymous online reporting tool available on our website through a company called CatapultEMS. To report an incident (anonymously or not), please visit our homepage and look for the "Anonymous Reporting" button. There are three reporting options: bullying, concern for self or others, and threat to school or students. When you make a report using the online Anonymous Community Report, you can remain anonymous, or you have the option to identify yourself and communicate with the administration. Anonymous Community Reports are received by school staff and administration only during school days, within school office hours, and are reviewed as soon as possible. All reports are taken seriously and will be acted upon in a timely manner. As each incident is different, each will warrant a different reaction and timeline for action.

How can parents help? To be most effective, prevention efforts are the shared responsibility of parents, staff, and the community. As parents, you can:

  • Convince the child who has been the target that he/she is not at fault.
  • Work with the school staff to address problems. Ask for a meeting that includes the child's teacher, the school principal, and/or the school counselor to resolve the problem.
  • Teach the child to be assertive without striking out.

Career Preparatory Charter staff members are committed to creating an emotionally, socially and physically safe environment while fostering positive relationships with staff, students and families. For more information, please read the California Bullying Policy. Any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the principal or administrator.
